Vital Church Marks – our church has at least one ministry in each area that is producing lasting fruit.  Answer for each and figure out one way that your church will increase in each area for the coming year.

1.  Biblical:
      i.  Qualities in the lives of believers this past year that have increased from this:
      ii.  New people this past year that are being impacted by this:

      i.  Qualities increased in the lives of people in our church this past year:

      i.  Qualities that have been raised this past year in this area:
      ii.  New people involved in mission at home or abroad this past year:

Five Transformations of the Gospel

How is your church doing in sharing the Whole Gospel?

1.  Gospel as People receiving Forgiveness of Sin
      a.  How many conversions has your church seen this past year?
          i.  Is this more or less than last year?
      b.  Is there a normal and natural way that your church has for people to receive forgiveness?
          i.  If you don’t have one, seek God for what it will be.
          ii.  If you do, how can this become even more effective?

2.  Gospel as People receiving Release of Bondage to Sin and Satan
      a.  How many Christians have received this release this past year?
          i.  Is this more or less than last year?
      b.  Is there a normal and natural way that you church has for people to be released in this way?
          i.  If you don’t have one, see God for what it will be.
          ii.  If you do, how can this become even more effective?

3.  Gospel as People having their hearts of stone turn into hearts of flesh
      a.  On a scale of 1 – 5 (with 1 being ‘we’ve gotten worse, 3 being ‘staying the same’, and 5 being ‘we’re much healthier’), rate how the spirit of your congregation seems now, compared to a year-ago:
          i.  Spirit of Criticism
          ii.  Spirit of Apathy
          iii.  Spirit of Fear
          iv.  Spirit of Anxiety
          v.  Spirit of Selfishness
What can you do to become more spiritually healthy?
      b.  On a scale of 1 – 5, rate how the spirit of your congregation seems now, compared to a year ago:
          i.  Love
          ii.  Joy
          iii.  Peace
          iv.  Patience
          v.  Kindness
          vi.  Goodness
          vii.  Gentleness
          viii.  Faithfulness
          ix.  Self-control
      c.  What ways can you grow ‘Hearts of Flesh’ in your congregation and produce more ‘Spiritual Fruit?’
          i.  Do you have a normal and natural process of growing disciples in your congregation?
          ii.  Do your structures and groups reinforce this discipleship process?

4.  Gospel as the New Community, the broken-yet-healing People of God, who exhibit God’s rule in their life together and who provide love, support and accountability to each other
      a.  How many recommitments has your church seen this past year?
          i.  Recommitment = people who have been out of church for 5 years or more and who have now come back and are engaging in the life of the church.
          ii.  How is God blessing in this area?  How can you do more of what God is blessing?
      b.  How many people have moved into smaller groups this year in your church?
          i.  Is there a normal and natural way for people to do this in your church?
      c.  How many people have moved from being guests into becoming participating members of the Body?
          i.  Is there a normal and natural way for this to happen in your church?

5.  Gospel as the Mission of the Church, extending compassion, mercy and justice to have a transforming impact on our community and the world
      a.  How many local ‘missional’ events/outreaches has your church had this past year?
          i.  Were they effective at meeting felt-needs in the community?
          ii.  Did you have more of your people involved in these events this year than last year?
          iii.  Did you see people from the event come to visit your church?
      b.  How have you equipped your members to be ‘missionaries’ in their homes, work-places, and communities?
          i.  Do you see more of your people acting as missionaries, caring for neighbors, praying for the lost, inviting friends?
          ii.  What are the normal and natural ways for your members to do this?
      c.  Would your community describe your church as being more loving and Christ-like this year than last?
          i.  What can you do to help this happen?
